The English Department at the University of Education (PH) Schwäbisch Gmünd presents:
These six bitingly funny short one-act plays in English by the American playwright, Christopher Durang offer witty and absurd glimpses into everyday life. From the insane houseguest who brings chaos and desperation into the home of an ordinary couple to the bureaucrat from hell, who has perfected the art of uncooperativeness, we are taken on a comic roller coaster ride. We learn about a new (and hysterically funny) form of mourning the dead, the power of a canker sore to disrupt an otherwise romantic reconciliation, and the power of theater to bring light (and nausea?) to the audience. And finally, we experience every actor’s nightmare: suddenly appearing onstage without a clue as to how one got there or what one is supposed to do there. (Due to the mature topics and the level of English, these skits are meant for a more mature audience.)
Performed by a group of talented and highly motivated English students from the University of Education Schwäbisch Gmünd and under the direction of English lecturer, Dr. Susan Weitmann, these six one act plays represent two semesters of hard work and dedication. We look forward to sharing the entertaining results with you!
The performance begins at 19:00 and includes a short intermission between Acts One and Two.
While there is no admission fee, we welcome any donations, which will go toward paying the basic production costs.
